Support the journalists, graphic designers, photographers and web designers of the future

The Chabot Spectator sends students every year to 2 conferences. Both conference are through the Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC).

Support students in their skill development at JACC conferences. Students gain skills and knowledge in writing, photography, design, business, public relations, web design and get portfolio critiques from industry professionals.

Every year the students of the Chabot Spectator pay half their fees for the conferences: this includes the cost of the hotel room and the conference registrations. Additionally students must pay their own way to the conferences.

With your donation the Spectator would be able to assist the students with these fees for the conferences in full. Currently with The Spectator assists students with the conference and hotel fee. This leaves out of pocket expenses for students for the state conference at $200 – $300 per student. This cost includes: conference fee, hotel room (Shared with 3 – 5 other students), gas and food.
