After closing down during the summer, Hayward landmark Giant Burgers on Mission Blvd will be serving burgers, fries and shakes once again.
If you live in the area, you know about the popular burger spots in the area: Val’s Burgers on B St. & Kelly, Cecil’s on Tennyson, Sam’s on Hesperian, and the 1/4lb. Giant Burger on Mission which also has locations in Oakland. Giant Burger, with few of its kind left in the area, suddenly closed its doors over the summer shocking many people looking for a burger fix in Hayward.
Currently, the only other locations are in Oakland on Grand & Telegraph, MacArthur Blvd, and on International & 81st Avenue.
The Hayward location, under new management, closed temporally due to a major remodeling project. Improvements to the inside were made to bring the classic restaurant up to date with current codes, as well as restoring the tall Giant Burger sign on Mission Blvd.
From burgers, fries, and shakes to their pies, Giant Burger has been serving since 1966. Whether at the counter listening to tunes on the jukebox, ordering at the pick-up window outside or eating in the car, Giant Burgers’ return will definitely make burger connoisseurs happy.
Check out the 1/4lb. Giant Burger periodically while driving on Mission Blvd., located next door to the Hayward Plunge and Memorial Park. Reopening of this Giant Burger location is rumored to be within the month.
